“If you know each person well, comparing simplification like that is strange. Elon is a practical engineer, while Steve is genius in design, recruitment and marketing. You can never walk into a room and confuse them “, Bill Gates said when host Erik Schatzker asked if Elon Musk is considered “the next Steve Jobs” thanks to the advances Tesla and SpaceX have made in electric and aerospace cars.

Gates said he has great respect for Elon Musk and appreciates the products of the electric car maker Tesla founded by Musk, but thinks it’s easier to develop electric cars than other climate-proof technologies.

Tesla is currently the car maker with the largest market capitalization thanks to its share price soaring this year, thus helping Elon Musk become the fourth richest person in the world with a fortune of $ 100 billion, second only to Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg. On the question of whether Tesla shares are overvalued, Bill Gates declined to comment.

“The question of Tesla valuation should be for stock investors,” Gates said.

Recently, billionaire Bill Gates and Tesla CEO Elon Musk have made controversial comments about each other. Musk criticized the Microsoft cofounder for his ignorance of electric trucks as he argued that electric vehicles are not a viable alternative to long-range, heavy vehicles.

This isn’t the first time these two tech billionaires have contradicted. Earlier, Gates criticized Musk for his inaccurate comments on Covid-19 and advised the Tesla CEO to focus on electric vehicles only. While Musk was disappointed to learn that Gates’s first electric car was Porsche Taycan, not Tesla.

Meanwhile, for the late Apple CEO Steve Jobs, Bill Gates has always praised him as a “genius”, who has a natural leadership ability that he wished he could imitate that.

“He’s such a mentally stimulating master witch, and I’m an apprentice witch. I can see him casting spells that fascinate others,” Gates said of Steve Jobs and said he was always “jealous” of the late Apple CEO’s speech and leadership style.
