Mrs. Michelle Obama visited Vietnam in December 2019 to promote the Global Girls initiative, thus advancing education universalization, particularly for girls and working-class women.

Michelle Obama, along with actress Julia Roberts, director, actress – star Lana Condor – who grew up in a Vietnamese orphanage before being adopted by an American couple – and Vietnamese actress Nam Ngo Thanh Van – will participate in a variety of events to support and encourage girls’ education.

Michelle Obama began her visit to “Room to read” educational assistance groups in Vietnam by discussing education for girls on behalf of the Girls Opportunity Alliance – GOA – Fund, which is part of the Obama Foundation.

Additionally, members of the delegation will participate in a Room to Read-organized life skills training session for females.

She continues to be involved in initiatives that promote girls’ education to this day, most notably congratulating YouTube’s Creators for Change on Girls’ Education Special won the award for Outstanding Daytime Non-Fiction Special at the Daytime Emmys.
